The rapid development of equine industry in Malaysia has demanded more experts in the feild of equine science and equine management. UTM aspires to be the pioneer among higher learning institutions in Malaysia and in the region to promote equine sports and equestrian activities among student as well as the public to develop interest and passion for the sports.

Year 1

Introduction to Equine Science and Industry, Introduction to Management, Basic Horse Handling, Practical Experience in Equine Farm Management 1, Malaysian Dynamics (Malaysian Students), Arts, Customs and Beliefs of Malaysian (International Students), English for Academic Communication, Islamic and Asian Civilization, Sports Psychology, Foundation of Equine Performance, Equine Anatomy and Physiology, Farm and Stable Management, Practical Experience in Equine Farm Management II, Co-Curriculum 1, Individual, Community Development & Globalisation Cluster (Malaysian Students), Bahasa Melayu Untuk Komunikasi (International Students).

 

Year 4

Rider Instructor Training, Equine Evaluation and Selection, Equine for Disabled, Equine Therapy and Rehabilitation, Practical Experience in Equine Farm Management VII, Undergraduate Project I, Equine Seminar, Equine Reproduction and Breeding Technologies, Practical Experience in Equine Farm Management VIII, Undergraduate Project II.

 

Year 2

Horse Riding I: Endurance, Basic Equine Healthcare and Diseases, Commercial Equine Facilities Design and Management, Practical Experience in Equine Farm Management III, Science, Technology and Mankind, Advanced English for Academic Communication, Equine Business Management, Principles of Risk Management, Horse Behaviour and Training, Horse Riding II: Dressage, Equine Disease Management, Practical Experience in Equine Farm Management IV.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT

For STPM/ equivalent

i) University Basic Entry

1. Passed SPM/SPMV with credit in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia or credit in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia in July Paper.

2. Passed STPM with:

  • Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in Pengajian Am, AND
  • Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in TWO (2) other subjects

3. Attended Malaysian University English Test (MUET) atleast Band 1

ii) Special Entry Requirement 

1. Passed with atleast PNGK 2.00 at STPM level.

2. Passed with atleast grade C (NGMP 2.00) at STPM in any TWO subjects from other than subject Pengajian Am
3. Passed with credit in Mathematics at SPM level or equivalent.

4. Passed test and interview that are conducted by staff university.

5. Passed with atleast Band 2 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET)

6. Do not have a health problem that can affect learning process. 

For Matrikulasi/ Asasi Sains UM/ Tahun Asas UTM

i) University Basic Entry

1. Passed SPM or equivalent with credit in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia or credit in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia in July Paper.
2. Passed KPM Matriculation/Asasi Sains UM/ Asasi Undang-undang KPTM with at least CPA 2.00 andattended Malaysian University English Test (MUET) with atleast Band 1.

ii) Special Entry Requirement

1. Passed with atleast PNGK 2.00 at Matriculation/Foundation level.

2. Passed with atleast grade C (NGMP 2.00) at Matriculation/Foundation in any specific subjects.
3. Passed with credit in Mathematics at SPM level or equivalent.

4. Passed test and interview that are conducted by staff university.

5. Passed with atleast Band 2 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET)

6. Do not have a health problem that can affect learning process. 

 

 

For Diploma or equivalent (Direct to 2nd year beginning 2008)

i) University Basic Entry

1. Passed SPM or equivalent with credit in Bahasa Melayu or credit in Bahasa Melayu in July Paper.
2. Obtained Diploma or other certifications from institutions recognized by Malaysian Government and approved by the University Senate.
3. Attended Malaysian University English Test (MUET) with atleast Band 1.

ii) Special Entry Requirement

1. Obtained a Diploma in Science (Equine Management) from UTM or equivalent with at least PNGK 2.75; OR

2. Candidates with PNGK< 2.75, with at least 2 years working experience in related area are eligible to apply; OR
3. Passed with credit in Mathematics and physics at SPM level or equivalent or score at least Grade C in one of the Mathematics subjects at Diploma level.

4. Passed with atleast Band 2 in  Malaysian University English Test (MUET).

5. Do not have health problem that can affect learning process.

Note:
Candidates have to submit the complete transcript of their Diploma (1st to final semester) and a copy of Diploma or a certified graduation confirmation letter.
